Why Not Shop Around?
Paying too much for car insurance? Compare rates and you could save! The Financial Services Commission of Ontario is one of many expert sources that encourage drivers to comparison shop. Read what they say.
You don’t have to pay more for your car insurance
In 2009, Ontario’s regulator* approved average rate increases of 8.77%, with another 5.37% added in the first quarter of 2010. But there is money to be saved – hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars per year. This is money that could be used for other things like vacations, gifts…you know, other things.
This is where Desjardins General Insurance (DGI) can help. We have a low cost structure and a true direct approach that allows us to keep our rates low, for longer.
Follow the experts’ advice: spend a little time and shop
Since auto insurance brokers often only represent a few insurers, it means they miss many of the rates from other insurers that are available to you. Unless you spend a little time shopping around, you may not be getting the best deal.
We suggest you give the same information to each insurance company, so that you can compare quotes properly. This information includes:
- The number of drivers
- The make of the vehicle
- How the vehicle is used (annual distance traveled, business usage)
- The driving records of the drivers
Shop around. Spend a little time and you could save a lot of money!
