Details of the draw for the five $1,000 prizes

  4. The winners of the five $1,000 prizes will be selected by electronic draw held at 10 a.m. on December 9, 2009 at DGI’s head office, 6300 boulevard de la Rive-Sud, Lévis from all eligible entries as described in paragraphs 2 and 3 of these rules. An entrant cannot win more than once.

  5. The odds of winning depend on the number of expiry dates and quote requests received, the number of clients in the database and the number of postal entries received. Each winner must meet all the conditions in these rules and be reached by telephone in the 10 business days following the draw, failing which the contest organizers will randomly select another entry based on the conditions stipulated in paragraphs 2, 3 and 4 of these rules, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same. To claim the prize, each winner must correctly answer a timed mathematical skill-testing question over the phone. The prize must be accepted as described in these rules. Furthermore, the prize cannot be transferred to another person, including the successor or heir of the winner.

  8. An entrant cannot win more than once. The odds of winning depend on the number of insurance quotes and expiry dates received, the number of clients in the database and the number of postal entries received. Each winner must meet all the conditions in these rules and be reached by telephone in the 10 days following the draw, failing which the contest organizers will randomly select another entry based on the conditions stipulated in paragraphs 2, 3, 6 and 7 of these rules, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same. Furthermore, the prize cannot be transferred to another person, including the successor or heir of the winner.

    Conditions for charities

  9. The winners must sign a Declaration and Release of Liability Form (hereafter Release Form), which will be mailed to them along with the letter confirming the prize. Winners must return the Release Form to the contest organizers within 10 days of receipt.

Within 10 days of receiving the signed Release Form from the winner, the contest organizers will mail a letter to the winner, describing the procedure to claim the prize.

  10. Subject to approval by the contest organizers, each winner must choose a charity active in the following areas or any other area selected by DGI.

    • Education (university chairs, educational centres, foundations)

    • Health (hospitals, health and social services institutions, foundations)

    • Environment and sustainable development (foundations)

The organization must be a registered charity or a non-profit organization and have a charter to this effect. Private foundations and individuals will not be accepted as a charity.

The winners’ choice of charity must be written on the Release Form, which must be returned within ten (10) days of receipt, as described in paragraph 9. The selected charity cannot be changed. Winners can choose only one charity. The donation cannot be divided between two (2) or more charities. If two persons hold a joint insurance policy or obtain a joint insurance quote, they must agree on a single charity. The process for naming the charity is the same as for single winners.

  11. DGI will send the donation to each winner’s choice of charity.

  12. If a winner’s choice of charity does not meet the conditions in these rules, and DGI does not accept the charity, the winner will have 10 additional days to name another charity for approval by DGI. If the winner’s second choice of charity is not accepted by DGI, DGI reserves the right to select a charity, in place of the winner, to receive a donation equivalent to the winner’s prize.

  13. When claiming their prize, the winners must present photo identification.

  14. If a winner violates one of the above-mentioned conditions or any other condition in these rules, or if he or she refuses to accept the prize, he or she will be disqualified. At the discretion of the contest organizers, a new draw may be held to award the prize in compliance with these rules, until an entrant is selected and declared a winner. This new draw will proceed in the same manner as stipulated in paragraphs 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of these rules, with the exception of the date, which cannot be the same. Depending on the circumstances, the contest organizers also reserve the right to cancel the prize.

  15. All decisions made by the contest organizers are final and cannot be appealed, subject to any decision made by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux with respect to questions under its jurisdiction.

  16. Other details

    • The entrant is the person whose name appears on the insurance policy. If two persons hold a joint insurance policy, they will both be declared joint winners, and the first person to be contacted must answer the mathematical skill-testing question. The prize will be awarded in both names.

    • By submitting the expiry date of their automobile or property insurance policy, entrants acknowledge that a DGI representative will contact them in the days preceding policy renewal to offer a quote.

    • The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entrant or cancel the entry of any person who violates these contest rules. Any entry deemed ineligible by the organizers will be automatically rejected.

    • DGI accepts no liability whatsoever in the event that it is unable to act because of reasons outside its control, or because of a strike, lock-out or work conflict in the establishments of the organizations or companies whose services are used to hold this contest.

    • DGI cannot be held liable for any lost, misplaced or late requests or contest entries or for any technical problem or breakdown that could affect the operation of DGI’s website, network, telephone lines, online computer systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment and software. Furthermore, DGI cannot be held responsible for any damage to an entrant’s computer or computer system components used to enter the contest.

    • By participating in this contest, entrants release the contest organizers from any liability for damage that may result from entering the contest or accepting or using a prize, should the person be declared a winner. Before receiving the prize, each winner must sign a Release Form if DGI so requires.

    • The contest organizers reserve the right to change the contest conditions or to terminate the contest at any time whatsoever without prior notice, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec.
