Ready your cellphones and hashtags like #fall2015, #fieryfoliage and #falllandscapes and take these drives through Quebec and Ontario to see the season’s best views!
Wine Route, Eastern Townships, Quebec
This route is known for many things: not only is it dotted with bucolic valleys, vineyards and charming orchards, but the fall vistas are also particularly pleasant. Cruise the Wine Route or stop along the way to pick apples—if there are any left!
Niagara Parkway, Ontario
Winston Churchill called it the “prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world.” And he might not have seen it at its best, in the fall. This panoramic route is superb every other day of the week too. Winding along the Niagara River from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Niagara Parkway features breathtaking views and, just like Quebec’s Wine Route, large vineyards where you can raise a glass right after the grape harvest!
Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario
The drive through Algonquin Provincial Park—only a few hours from Ottawa—is all nature with lakes, rivers and endless forest. Plus, Ontario Parks has a handy website that tells you when the fall colours are at their peak.
The drive to Lac Sacacomie
Head toward Lac Sacacomie in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, home to the famous rustic log Hôtel Sacacomie. The landscapes and colours are unparalleled.
Petite-Rivière-Saint-François
A trip through the lush Charlevoix region countryside, between mountains and the St. Lawrence River, is a must. Le Massif ski resort makes its lifts available to fall visitors who want to scale the summit but avoid the trek. In addition to the colourful foliage dotting the mountain and surrounding area, the site offers an unobstructed view of the river.
