There are 2 ways to sign up:
- If you’re insured with Desjardins Insurance, you can sign up directly in the app by following the steps.
- If you’re not insured with Desjardins Insurance and you want to become a client, get an online quote or call us at By phone:1-877-699-9923.
The Ajusto program is completely free.
At the end of the trip analysis period, you’ll find out if you’re eligible for a discount on your insurance premium. You’ll also see your driving results: number of trips, hours of driving, distance travelled and medals earned.
Yes, you can choose to continue getting feedback. Just bear in mind that once the trip analysis period is complete, your score and your discount won’t change. Future trips won’t be used to calculate a new discount, unless a new trip analysis is requested.
You need to complete the trip analysis period. This records your trips for 100 days and 1,000 km to get a realistic picture of your driving habits to calculate your final score. If you’re eligible for a discount, it will be applied to your auto insurance policy in the next few days. We will update your insurance premium to reflect the discount and you’ll receive a policy modification confirming the change. Note that this process can take up to 7 days.
The discount does not apply when your policy comes into effect. It applies only after the trip analysis period is complete.
If you pay for your premium in one payment, you’ll receive your discount as a refund.
If you pay your premium through pre-authorized payments, your discount will be divided equally and applied to your remaining payments.
You keep your discount for as long as you’re insured with us.
If you make changes that affect your auto insurance policy, like a change of vehicle or a change of address, we may ask you to do another trip analysis.
Ajusto analyzes your driving data to calculate a score which is converted into a discount once you’ve driven 1,000 kilometres and used the program for 100 days.
Ajusto analyzes the following:
Your driving
Cell phone use while driving
Cell phone use while driving is one of the leading causes of accidents. If you stay off your phone when driving, you’ll improve your score and help make the roads safer.
Fast acceleration and hard braking
We know that there are times when you need to accelerate fast to let an ambulance through or to brake hard to avoid an accident. So it’s good to know that your score isn’t based on one-off events. Instead it’s calculated on your driving profile as a whole.
Speed
Respecting the speed limit decreases the risk of an accident and helps improve road safety. That being said, the parameters of the app have been set to allow a small margin over the legal speed limit (between 10 and 15 km/h depending on the limit), without compromising the safety values Desjardins Insurance wants to promote with its Ajusto program. To maximize your score and, by extension your discount, drive at a safe speed!
Other risk factors
Time of day travelled
The risk of an accident is higher at certain times of the day. For instance, driving at night is considered more risky than driving during the day because of driver fatigue and reduced visibility. The level of risk is associated with different times of day.
Distance travelled
The less you drive, the more you save. Shorter trips pay off because they increase your score!
Trip routines
If you take the same routes all the time, you’re less likely to encounter surprises and have an accident. The more regular your daily routine, the higher your score will be.
Your score is updated after each day of driving. It’s based on a general picture of your driving, so a single event won’t have a direct impact on your score. We analyze the overall trends in your driving habits to calculate your score.
Medals are a great way to challenge yourself to be a better driver! Each medal has 4 levels of difficulty, so you can improve your driving at your own pace. When you earn a medal, simply tap it to claim it.

Even if you're already insured with us, you can still sign up for the Ajusto program and potentially save on your auto insurance.
To find out how much you could save, add Ajusto in the Desjardins Insurance Home-Auto app.
The Ajusto section of the app records:
- Vehicle location (GPS)
- Accelerometer data (which measures accelerations) and gyroscope data (which measures rotational movements)
- Time
- Application power on/off
Open Ajusto in the Desjardins Insurance Home-Auto app. It shows your score, your medals and your driving data for the last 30 days. You can also get a more detailed view of each trip and much more!
As an Ajusto user, you should make sure your phone’s battery is charged when you’re driving so the application can collect data. If the battery is too low, no data will be collected.
Most of the time, the app will automatically detect if you’re driving by analyzing your trip. However, if you weren’t driving and the application did not detect it, you can correct the trip information in the Ajusto dashboard.
Remember that the map doesn’t show every detail of a trip. It only identifies the most significant events.
No. Your discount isn’t affected when someone else drives your car.
If you weren’t driving and the application didn’t detect it, simply indicate it in the app for the trip in question.
The Ajusto program discount applies to all vehicle coverages and Ontario policy change forms (OPCF), except:
- OPCF 3 – Drive Government Automobiles
- OPCF 20 – Coverage for Transportation Replacement
- OPCF 27 – Liability for Damage to Non-Owned Automobile(s)
- OPCF 44R – Family Protection Coverage
- Accident-Free Protection
- Trouble-Free Option

After downloading the app and activating the Ajusto section, your phone’s operating system will send a location permission request. To use the app and enjoy the benefits, you must accept the request.
This permission request will allow us to collect your driving data so that we can calculate your score, which could be turned into savings at the end of the trip analysis period.
You can get a lot of information about your driving habits:
Ajusto dashboard
The dashboard shows your score and trip summaries. If you weren’t driving and the app thinks you were, you can indicate that here. Each trip is given a star rating based on the data collected.
If you signed up for Ajusto program after September 15, 2017, the dashboard also updates you with the remaining number of days (out of 100) and kilometres (out of 1,000) to get to your final score.
Note that trips under 1 km will not appear in the app and will not be taken into account to calculate your score.
Trip summary
Tap any trip in your dashboard to see more details. You can view a map identifying the main events of the trip and use the legend to help you analyze it. Remember that the map doesn’t show every detail of a trip—only the most significant events.
Achievements
Track how many medals your great driving has earned you!
All trips are saved and then analyzed. This means there’s a short delay before the data is available. Depending on your Wi-Fi selection in your account settings, the data will be uploaded at the end of trip or when you enter a Wi-Fi zone.
At the end of the trip analysis period, you can choose to stop recording your trips.
The application uses a predictive model to determine if you’re driving. It’s also how we determine what mode of transportation you’re using. But if it turns out you weren’t the driver or you used a different mode of transportation than the one detected, you can easily change your trip information in the app.
Yes. The Ajusto section of the Desjardins Insurance Home-Auto app has an effect on the battery. The effect varies from one telephone model to another, but battery consumption is highest when the app uses the GPS. If your phone’s charge is too low, Ajusto will not start up or will stop collecting data if you’re driving, as we don’t want to drain your phone’s battery recording trips. We are actively working to reduce the effect of the Ajusto section of the app on your battery consumption.
Remember to make sure your phone is switched on and the battery is charged so that trip data can be collected.
Deleting the app from your phone won’t cancel your enrollment, because the collected data will be held in your file for a year.
If you want to stop using Ajusto and cancel your enrollment, first call By phone:1-877-699-9923 and we’ll remove the program from your auto insurance policy. You can then delete the app from your phone.
If you have to delete the app from your phone for whatever reason, know that you can simply download the app again and pick up where you left.
You can download the Desjardins Insurance Home-Auto app from the App Store© or Google PlayTM.
